The crock pot saves the day for this easy apple cobbler recipe. Make your own apple pie filling or skip a step and buy store-bought. It will taste great either way! Try out different toppings, like caramel sauce or whipped cream. You could also try switching out the apple for other fruit flavors- blackberry, blueberry, cherry- we’re sure it would be great!
Ingredients:
Pie filling:
- 4 sweet red apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 4 granny smith apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1.5 t. cinnamon
- 1/4 t. each nutmeg and allspice
- 1 T. lemon juice
OR use 2 20 oz. cans of apple pie filling
- 1 16 oz. box yellow cake mix
- 6 T. butter
- 1/2 t. cinnamon
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Instructions:
- If making homemade apple pie filling, combine all ingredients in the crock pot until apples are well coated.
- If using store-bought apple pie filling, pour into the crock pot in an even layer.
- Pour the cake mix on top of the apples in an even layer. Do not mix!
- Melt the butter, then pour on top of the cake mix. Do not mix!
- Top with the extra cinnamon.
- Cook on High for 3-4 hours, until the top is set and the apples are tender.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream!
